It was this major show for the African Fashion Collective, sponsored by ThisDay/Arise Magazine! They showed a collective of African designers and all the top Black models were in the show, Liya, Chanel, Tyson, Alec, it was incredible! But the best moment was Grace[Jones] coming out sixty years old, with major legs and attitude, INCREDIBLE!  -Bevy

Bevy Smith, fashion maven and 21st Century Hustle contributor, kicked off New York Fashion Week by hosting one her famous dinners.

In a $3 Million dollar duplex in the West Village, Bevy introduced the Grammy Award winning, songstress Chrisette Michelle to 30 of fashion’s elite. Over a scrumptious  meal prepared by Melba’s Restaurant and white wine that flowed throughout the night guest got to connect with rising starlet on music,  life, business and of course fashion.

These are the types of connections that makes these dinners so special.  According to Bevy the  dinners are “unique social events that allow brands to make active connections among industry influentials in an intimate setting while providing artists and celebrities access to hard to attain press and corporate executives.”  Though the events are private  and intimate; what happens in these rooms don’t necessarily stay in these rooms. The relationships built at DWB have permeated beyond these private dining spaces and  into fashion endorsement deals, magazines covers and access to some of the biggest brands in the world of high-end fashion.
