Hard Work: The Lil Wayne Theory

Words of wisdom from the hardest working man in Hip Hop.

Tabi Bonney Wants YOU to Do It!

“I didn’t think I just made moves”-Tabi Bonney

Artist/Director/Designer Tabi Bonney always has always been one to watch for grind inspiration in various endeavors from managing a music career to launching  a fashion brand. He’s a guy that is living the dream. Just a few years ago he was working a day job as a teacher and said I am about  do it, and did it.  Now… he has traveled the world, shot numerous videos, directed some videos, and has a new album dropping November 23 rd.

The Golden Parachute

Just came across a post on nytimes.com about Mr. T being the pitchman for the gold buying service Gold Promise and the rise in gold prices. While being tough to watch, I could only sit back and ponder  how  Mr. T continues to make a living based on a character he created with working as a bouncer at a Chicago nightclub.

A character that  opened the door for him to become a $3,000 bodyguard for celebrities such as Muhammad Ali, Steve McQueen and Diana Ross.  A character that Sylvester Stallone took note of and led  to him offering  Mr T.  a small role in Rocky 3  but eventually bumped him up to the role of the fearsome Clubber Lang. After this performance of a lifetime in Rocky 3 Mr. T was set up…. Here we are  nearly 3 decades later and the same character is paying dividends.

While some might laugh and some may wince, having a brand that you can bank on is worth its weight in the shiny stuff!

Here’s the tough to watch pitchman footage from Bloomberg TV

But Here’s how it came to be…

And the Hardest Working ______ is…

Not sure where Mitchum has been since my high school years when they made a no-frills but really effective roll-on— but earlier this year they reappeared on my radar when they developed a contest to  play off their “Hardest working deodorant” tagline. Said contest was to determine who the Hardest working person in America was. The winner was to receive $100,000 and a film of their life shot by the legendary filmmaker Albert Maysles and produced by Brett Ratner.

The film of the winner Chad Pregracke an environmentalist that spends his days cleaning the Mississiippi River is now online (as well as eight other films of hard working people in various  fields of endeavor).  Check them  all out at at mitchumhardestworking.com . Each person offers a look into their world and gives you that feeling that maybe you could be doing a little bit more.
