I was introduced to Belize by an outdated hippie film; I ended up traveling to Belize with a beautiful woman. There was only one catch, the woman was pregnant and she wanted me to deliver the baby. The whole thing occurred around the Y2k scare. Remember that? When the propaganda machine had the world wondering if everything electronic was going to shut down due to a computer glitch. Well Cathy decided she didn’t want to have her child in the grid, she wanted natural childbirth in a tropical environment. What better place than a small country on the Caribbean coast. Language would be no problem; Belize had once been a British colony and still maintained English as its official language after gaining independence. The cost of living was relatively low with a fixed exchange rate of two Belize dollars for every American dollar. All roads led to Belize, the year was 1999.

Very, very, very good piece. As I sat there reading it, I was lost in the wonders of such a lifestyle. I near envy, but so much more admire that Zaccai is such a non-convoluted person. This journey certainly made my morning.

Thanks Charles!! Zaccai has one of those stories that we all wonder at. I think every time I read it: If Zaccai can go live in the jungle for years, then I surely can do the things i’m trying to do!
Man this is GREAT! Just what I needed at the end of a go getter week.
Thanks for sharing.
